Visit Andean Communities of Otavalo
This tour consists in a visit to the artisans who works in their workshops with their skills through manual techniques and where they can learn weaving or making music. Visit Andean Communities of Otavalo
In Otavalo, artisans families and musicians open their doors to visitors and tourists from all over the world, their main function is to teach and protect ancestral and traditional weaving techniques: colonial and even pre-Columbian wooden looms.
In San Rafael we can observe the works with the totora plant and we can participate in the elaboration of the mat. As a complement we will visit the Cuicocha lake known as the Gods lake, we will also visit the peguche waterfall. A complete and combined tour to get to know the culture and nature of Otavalo.

Our transport takes us to the Cachiviro indigenous community, where we will observe the process of elaboration of a very typical handicraft based on the totora plant.
At this time our transport will take us near the lagoon of San Pablo to the Peguche Waterfall where we will make a walk to observe the waterfall an energizing point for indigenous peoples especially in the solstice of June
We will continue our tour to the Peguche village where we will visit a craftsman who does work in sheep’s wool, we will observe the elaboration, the process, the colors, the fabric for a finished product all this work is by manually.
We will advance to an Andean indigenous family that makes Andean musical instruments, where we will observe the elaboration of a very typical instrument of the Otavalo area called Pallas, in addition we will be able to sing some Andean musical instruments typical of the indigenous people.
Our transport will take us to the Cotacachi city where we will have an appetizing lunch, and then we have time to visit the leather shops.
Finally, we will visit the Cuicocha lake and take a short walk and have the opportunity to observe the most representative flora. We will also take the opportunity to take pictures of the different viewpoints.
