Hiking around Cuicocha Lake
Cuicocha (Kichwa: Kuykucha, “guinea pigs lake” or Kuychikucha, “rainbow lake”) is a caldera 3 km (2 miles) wide and a crater lake at the foot of the Cotacachi volcano in the Western Cordillera of the Ecuadorian Andes. Hiking around Cuicocha Lake
Cuicocha Lake forms the southern tip of the Cotacachi-Cayapas National Park. During the second day of the Inti Raymi (or sun Festival) every summer solstice, the indigenous shamans use Cuicocha as a bath for ritual cleansing and purification.
Fot to walking around the Cuicocha lagoon we leave at 7:30 am from Otavalo or a specified address.
After 30 minutes by transportation we will arrive at the entrance to the National Park and then our guide will begin with the explanation of the flora and fauna of the place and as we walk we will have a panoramic view from the different viewpoints of this Crater Lake.
After 4 or 5 hours of walking, the transport will pick you up to take you to the Cotacachi city where we will enjoy a delicious lunch and then have free time to visit the city.
In the afternoon return to Otavalo and end of services.

Our transportation will take us to the entrance of the Cotacachi Cayapas National Park.
The guide will give a brief talk about the National Park, and we will begin the walk around Crater Lake with breathtaking views of the unique landscape of this place. We will finish the hiking after 4 or 5 hours.
